From Mother to Daughter (T. D. Jakes)

"You are my baby and then,
You are my friend
You are the reason I go on
You are my dreams
You are my fears
You are the tears spared in prayer"

The Song

"Father and Son" is a popular song written and performed by singer Cat Stevens on his 1970 album Tea for the Tillerman
The song frames an exchange between a father not understanding a son's desire to break away and shape a new life, and the son who cannot really explain himself but knows that it is time for him to seek his own destiny. To echo this, Stevens sings in a deeper register for the Father's lines, while using a higher, more emotive one for those of the son.

The Singer

Cat Stevens (born Steven Demetre Georgiou on 21 July 1948) is a British musician and songwriter. He chose his stage name, Cat Stevens, in part because a girlfriend said he had eyes like a cat. He sold over 60 million albums around the world, his two main hits being The First Cut Is The Deepest (covered by different artists, including Rod Stewart) and Father and Son.
Stevens was living a fast-moving pop-star life and in early 1968 at the age of 19, he became very ill with tuberculosis and a collapsed lung. Near death he spent months recuperating in hospital and a year of convalescence. During this time Stevens began to question aspects of his life, and spirituality. He took up meditation, read about other religions, and became a vegetarian.
Stevens converted to Islam at the height of his fame in 1977. The following year, he adopted his Muslim name Yusuf Islam, auctioned all his guitars away for charity in 1979, and left his music career to devote himself to educational and philanthropic causes in the Muslim community.

The Model

Nicole Neumann appeared on a TV advertising campaign when she was just four years old. She reached popularity due to the fact that at the age of eleven she started working as a professional model for Dotto Models. In 1999 she starred the film Esa Maldita Costilla, directed by Juan José Jusid.
She has modelled for fashion designers like Versace, Nina Ricci, Benito Fernández, Luciano Bráncoli and Laurencio Adot.
She was selected to be the face of Ricky Sarkany, Kosiuko and Marin Dinar.

The Mother

Claudia Neumann has often been criticized, even by Nicole herself, for exploiting her own daughter. The fact is that she decided to give up her career as a psychologist to become her daughter's manager since her own job was not very profitable. The rather conflictive relationship she had with her daughter -with whom she is not on speaking terms- has been largely discussed in the media.

Like mother, like daughter

Lots of daughters decided to follow their mothers' steps and became famous. Examples of famous mothers and daughters in Argentina are:
Araceli González and Florencia Torrente
Marcela Tinayre and Juana Viale
Elena Fortabat and Carolina Oltra
In the United States:
Melanie Griffith and Tippi Hedren
Blythe Danner and Gwyneth Paltrow
Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson

My Point of View

The film Freaky Friday is about the accidental switch of bodies that Tess Coleman and her teenage daughter go through. Unlike the movie, in real life it is not unusual to find pathetic examples of adult mothers who dress like their adolescent daughters in a useless effort to recover their lost youth. The relationship that exists between a mother and her daughter is very different from the one of father and son. While fathers compete against their sons in the field of sport, mothers compete with their daughters trying to look like them and, in some cases, even snatching their friends. Moreover some mothers expect their daughters to fulfill frustrated careers or, deeply affected by their own frustration in marriage, force them to make wrong decisions when choosing a man to get married.
